“Yes?”
“Yes.”
“Really?”
“Ja-net.” She assented with her eyes. “YES.”
————-
“Flowers?”
“Moebius strip.”
“Tree?”
“Janet.”
“It’s not very romantic.”
“It’s symbolic.”
“So are flowers and trees.”
————-
“Ow! I can’t believe I let you talk me into this!”
“I know you love me, Sam Carter.”
Groaning through closed teeth, “I must.”
“Trust me. You do.”
————-
“I’m nervous. I want this, I want you … in the worst … best …. possible way. But I’m nervous.”
“Cold feet?”
“Burning hot, actually.”
“You warm my heart, sweetheart.”
“OK. OK. I’m ready.”
“I love you, Janet.”
————
“Thank you.”
“For marrying you?”
“For letting me brand you.”
“It’s a tattoo, Janet. I’m not a cow.”
“Yeah, but it shows everyone I own you.”
“I give myself to you.”
“Come here, then.”
————
“What’s that, Carter?”
“Oh. It’s a … well, it’s a tattoo, sir.”
Raising his eyebrows, “Really?”
“Yes. A small one.”
“I can see that. What is it?”
“A tiger lily.”
“You don’t say.”
“That’s Janet’s favorite flower, isn’t it Sam?”
“Um, it happens to be, yes, Daniel.”
“It is?”
“Yes, Jack, now leave her alone.”
“Does Janet have one just like it?” he persisted.
“She does not.”
“What’s that, T?”
“JanetFraiser has a moebius strip.”
“That’s kinda backwards, isn’t it, Carter? Why’d she get a moebius strip when you’re the gee …… um …. So.…..it’s official then?”
“As official as we can make it, sir.”
“Congratulations, Carter. I mean it.”
“I’m happy for you both, Sam.”
“Best wishes MajorCarter. May you have a long and fulfilled life together.”
“Thanks, guys. Really. Now, can we get on with this mission?”
“There’ll be cake when we get back, right?”
“Yes, sir.”
Smiling, “We’ve got 30 klicks ahead of us by noon. Pack up and move it out.”
———–
“They know.”
“What? How?”
“They figured it out. All of them. Together.”
“From one little tattoo? On your foot?”
“Teal’c saw yours.”
“When!?”
“I have no idea.”
“My god.”
“We might as well have gotten rings, Janet.”
“Sam …”
“No, I love my tattoo, I do. It’s my commitment to you. I love that. I love you. I’m just saying …”
“That if we had been more obvious they might not have noticed?”
“Maybe, honey.”
“But you love your Tiger Lily?”
“I love my Tiger Lily. I love you, Janet.”
“We really are a Moebius strip, sweetheart. One continuous being appearing as two.”
